T.R.I.B.E. – Transitory Research Initiative of the Balkans and Eastern Europe is a network of residency spaces and media labs in the Balkans and Eastern Europe devoted to research and production of transitory art.

T.R.I.B.E. started as a shared residency network in 2012. In the first round of residencies it connected Ljubljana, Prague, Istanbul and Nicosia. With help of EACEA Culture Programme (2007-2013) it hosted more than 15 artists and researchers on short and long residencies, organised two symposiums and resulted in a publication Exercises in transitory art. More information about the T.R.I.B.E. network  2012-2014 can be found here.

In 2015 the platform is announcing a new wave!

Starting this year T.R.I.B.E  will work on a three partner basis connecting Eastern European residencies and media labs with similar organisations active in Western and Northern Europe. By organising longer term production based residencies, TRIBE will aim at developing technological and aesthetic innovations joining three partners in the research, production and presentation phases. The participating partners will be announced soon.

TRIBE’s mission is:

  1. to connect organisations in Eastern Europe and the Balkans and organisations of Western / Northern Europe
  2. to establish long term collaborations between participating artists and organisations
  3. to conduct research on transitory art and produce new transitory artworks

Stay tuned for the open call!

MoTA –

Museum of Transitory Art

MoTA is a multidisciplinary platform dedicated to advancing the research, production and presentation of transitory, experimental, and live art forms.

MoTA is a museum without a permanent collection or a fixed space. Instead, its programs are realised in different locations and contexts in temporary physical and virtual spaces.

MoTA organizes and supports transitory art in the form of continuous events, exhibitions and educational programs both locally and internationally. As its name indicates, MoTA examines what a museum can be today and in the future.

MoTA is in constant search for the new, the uncertain, and the undefined.

MoTA works on several continuous programmes & projects. We run MoTA Point – a Space for Art & Ideas, we curate and produce the annual SONICA Festival, in addition to regular music programmes such as SONICA Series and SONICA Classics.

Within the years of running our residency programme, we’ve established T.R.I.B.E. – a network of residency spaces in the Balkans & Eastern Europe.

We’ve also initiated the research and archive platforms ArtistTalk.eu and Mediateque MoTA & Tomaž Brate. Our educational programmes serve a broader audience with ongoing workshops, talks, symposia, and internships.
