SOUND WORKSHOP WITH NICOLAS JAAR
The workshop with Nicolas Jaar was dedicated to fifteen ambitious creators from Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans who already had prior knowledge of sound editing tools. Ableton Live software was used, and the teaching was tailored to the interests and needs of the participants. During the workshop, participants created short original compositions, which are now included in the exhibition.
Dates: April 15–18, 2024

ART WORKSHOP WITH PIXEL BAMBI
During this site-specific VJ foraging workshop, participants explored the surroundings of Rakov Škocjan and collected plants, stones, mushrooms, and other visually intriguing beings. Each participant created their own 3D scan of an object or being they had found by using the software Abound which is a user-friendly program for photogrammetry. These scans were then combined in Resolume software, where they were animated and transformed into visuals for the musical performances that took place in the evening. The workshop bridged the practice of foraging with digital data collection, with participants functioning as a collective network or algorithm that “gathered” elements from the local environment and transformed them into a new visual ecosystem.

MUSIC WORKSHOP WITH SUZANNE CIANI
The three-hour music workshop with Suzanne Ciani, one of the most respected electronic music creators of the past 50 years, who visited our region for the first time as part of her European tour, was dedicated to aspiring electronic music creators. Ciani introduced her iconic Buchla synthesizer manual from 1976, which addresses key questions of analog sound synthesis. Participants explored the free open-source modular synthesizer software VCV Rack and some created original compositions using it, which are now included in the exhibition.

Museum of Transitory Art

MoTA –

Museum of Transitory Art

MoTA is a multidisciplinary platform dedicated to advancing the research, production and presentation of transitory, experimental, and live art forms.

MoTA is a museum without a permanent collection or a fixed space. Instead, its programs are realised in different locations and contexts in temporary physical and virtual spaces.

MoTA organizes and supports transitory art in the form of continuous events, exhibitions and educational programs both locally and internationally. As its name indicates, MoTA examines what a museum can be today and in the future.

MoTA is in constant search for the new, the uncertain, and the undefined.

MoTA works on several continuous programmes & projects. We run MoTA Point – a Space for Art & Ideas, we curate and produce the annual SONICA Festival, in addition to regular music programmes such as SONICA Series and SONICA Classics.

Within the years of running our residency programme, we’ve established T.R.I.B.E. – a network of residency spaces in the Balkans & Eastern Europe.

We’ve also initiated the research and archive platforms ArtistTalk.eu and Mediateque MoTA & Tomaž Brate. Our educational programmes serve a broader audience with ongoing workshops, talks, symposia, and internships.
