BARAGA: NEUNUNDNEUNZIG (99) – NINE
The large-scale sonic installation / immersive environment NEUNUNDNEUNZIG (99) by Martin Bricelj Baraga in collaboration with Olaf Bender premiered at the ICAS Festival at Festspielhaus Hellerau in Dresden and was later shown at the Galerie Fernand Léger within the NEMO Biennale in Paris and at Spazio Aereo in Venice. Next weekend, Baraga returns to Kinetica with an exclusive version of this large immersive installation.
NEUNUNDNEUNZIG (99) is a dark field of intensities where sound, light, and objects are inhaling, exhaling, and pulsating in a space that is shrinking and extending, thus creating a highly intensive, even claustrophobic psycho-physical and socio-spatial experience that that mirrors the current conditions of our society.
Otherwise known for his monumental interactive sculptures, Baraga’s NEUNUNDNEUZIG (99) installation is a culmination of the artist’s critical observation of societal undercurrents in present times. Almost like the reverse side of his previous works, NEUNUNDNEUNZIG (99) mirrors the undertow, rather than proposes solutions. A human-machine, NINE is an immersive experience of a hermetic space in which the tensions of our times are enhanced to physical immediacy.
