We’re happy to announce our collaboration with Construction Festival VII in Dnipro, Ukraine, to present
Lisa Stenberg: Zone (2018).

Lisa Stenberg: Zone (2018)
quadrophonic sound installation

Zone was premiered in 2018 at the Biological Museum in Stockholm, a museum built in 1893 inspired by the Norse wooden churches known as “stavkyrkor”. The museum houses collections of taxidermied Scandinavian mammals and birds arranged in their natural ecological environment in large-scale dioramas giving illusory depth to the spectator in a 360-degree panorama view. Since the panorama is only illuminated by daylight, the impressions shift during the day and in relation to the cycle of the seasons and weather conditions.

At the darkest hour of dusk during the transition to night, Zone was performed live in the museum. The piece is based on field recorded material performed at subarctic latitudes, transformed and processed digitally, and adapted for a quadraphonic listening space at Construction festival VII.

Composer Lisa Stenberg, hailing from northern Sweden, based in Stockholm, is known to create immersive sonic spheres. Her music oscillates in the realm of instrumental and electroacoustic music, often drone-based characterised by slowly changing sustained and layered sound. Her recent work includes music composed on the legendary analog/digital hybrid synthesizer EMS Synthi 100 and compositions re-amplified in concrete halls of a disbanded iron mine in the woods of Sweden as well as music for the folk instrument cittra paired up with electronics and feedback. Interested in perception and initiating intensified listening situations, the work of Lisa is often site-specific and presented in rare buildings and spaces with specific acoustic properties and settings. Her music has been performed in Europe and Russia at festivals like Donaufestival (AU), Norbergfestival (SE), OSA Festival (PL), Inversia (RS), Intonal festival (SE), SONICA festival (SI) among others.

Museum of Transitory Art

MoTA –

Museum of Transitory Art

MoTA is a multidisciplinary platform dedicated to advancing the research, production and presentation of transitory, experimental, and live art forms.

MoTA is a museum without a permanent collection or a fixed space. Instead, its programs are realised in different locations and contexts in temporary physical and virtual spaces.

MoTA organizes and supports transitory art in the form of continuous events, exhibitions and educational programs both locally and internationally. As its name indicates, MoTA examines what a museum can be today and in the future.

MoTA is in constant search for the new, the uncertain, and the undefined.

MoTA works on several continuous programmes & projects. We run MoTA Point – a Space for Art & Ideas, we curate and produce the annual SONICA Festival, in addition to regular music programmes such as SONICA Series and SONICA Classics.

Within the years of running our residency programme, we’ve established T.R.I.B.E. – a network of residency spaces in the Balkans & Eastern Europe.

We’ve also initiated the research and archive platforms ArtistTalk.eu and Mediateque MoTA & Tomaž Brate. Our educational programmes serve a broader audience with ongoing workshops, talks, symposia, and internships.
