The SHAPE+ Platform has completed its’ first year of activity. In its’ two editions, SONICA festival hosted Aho Ssan, Ale Hop, Abadir, Irena Z. Tomažin, Frédéric D. Oberland, Passepartout Duo and, under the auspices of the partner festivals Grounded, Evita Manji, Isabella Forciniti at Tenzije festival in Rijeka, Katarina Gryvul and Wojciech Rusin at the MENT Ljubljana showcase festival. At the same time, we initiated two residencies as collaborations between local artists and foreign artists from the SHAPE+ Platform. We hosted the audiovisual trio of percussionist and electronic musician Jaka Berger, Croatian audiovisual artist Branimir Štivić and Lebanese bassist Tony Elieh. The unique mixture of contemporary performance, tactile illuminated sculptures, video and play of shadows and light, voice and movement, and spatial synthesis of sound was staged in the Immaterial Tactility project by composer Aleksandra Bajde, contemporary artist Uršula Berlot and Italian electroacoustic musician and sound artist Isabella Forciniti.

The SHAPE+ platform has announced the roster of artists who will participate in the platform in the next cycle. You can see the list here.
At the same time, two more festivals, Mutant Radio from Georgia and Portugal’s OUT.RA, are joining the platform.
Mutant Radio is a media platform that focuses on various directions: mixes, interviews, educational shows, live performances and discussion broadcasts that are either live-streamed or filmed and streamed later on. It gathers various artists, DJs, and interesting personalities that have an opportunity to focus on the subject of their preference and their interest. What is unique about Mutant Radio is that it is mobile.
The second new partner of SHAPE+ is Portugal’s OUT.RA, responsible for organising OUT.FEST. Started in 2004, and continuously held in Barreiro, Portugal, OUT.FEST is an annual festival celebrating adventurous and experimental music in all its diversity (improvised music, electronics, jazz, contemporary classical music, metal, new idioms), gathering and mapping, in its programme, music vanguard’s history, present and future.
